One Fatal Move: The Shocking Lion Attack That Claimed a Zoo Worker’s Life

Here’s a revised version of the text:

A tragic incident occurred at a Crimean safari park, where a woman lost her life after being fatally mauled.

Leokadiya Perevalova, 41, had been an employee at Taigan Safari Park for 17 years.

Owned by Oleg Zubkov, the park is the largest breeding facility in Europe for lions and other large predator mammals.

It houses approximately 60 African lions.

Tragedy struck when Leokadiya made a fatal mistake, leading to her being attacked by a pack of lions at the park on October 16.

She was reportedly bitten on the neck and could not survive her injuries.

It appears no one was present during the incident to assist Leokadiya.

In a statement, the park’s owner remarked, “The staff who discovered the body were unfortunately unable to help, as the lions had just attacked it.

“Regrettably, no one was present to assist. When the staff found her, she was lifeless.”

He added, “I was horrified to see that the lions, despite being well-fed and healthy, not only killed her but also began to gnaw at her legs.

“This is terrifying, because once lions have tasted human flesh, they can become cannibalistic. They are predators, and we cannot hold them accountable for their nature as apex predators. It’s futile to try to change them. The rules for safety and behavior are often written in blood, unfortunately, in all zoos.”

Oleg also praised Leokadiya as “the most experienced employee, who knew the backgrounds of our lions, tigers, and other animals.”

Regarding the circumstances of the incident, Oleg explained, “The transfer gate from the outer enclosure to the inner enclosure, which was being cleaned, was left open.”
